Dear, sweet god. Last night was the first official OMGWTFRVA event, the now-epic Facebook URL Party. Friends, if you weren’t there, you’re such a total loser. First, it started off as a laptop + liquorfest at the “home” a.k.a. flophouse of @chokeychicken. It progressed to some kind of sausagefest-y dance party to the tune of the Lion King soundtrack, then a normal-ish hangout for a whole hour until last call at Sticky Rice, then absolute fucking retardation until around 3 or 4 in the morning. Last night was retarded. GayRVA’s launch party at New York Deli in Carytown was fun for about 5 minutes. The DJ insisted he had only brought music that sucked, prompting the logical conundrum of dance music that is generally considered undanceable. Once the 5 minutes of “Hey! How are you!” delight had faded, it took another 5 minutes to decide where to go next and spread the word, followed by 20 minutes of waiting for the bartenders to close us out. Keep reading →
